Granite Cap Repair Following Storm Damage
Storm damage can leave lasting marks on even the most solid masonry. In this case, a fallen tree struck the granite cap of a boundary feature at a private dwelling, causing significant damage to the top section.
Rather than replacing the entire piece, a targeted repair was carried out to retain as much of the original stone as possible. The damaged area was carefully removed and prepared, ensuring a clean and stable base for the repair work.
The new section was then shaped to match the original moulding profile. Attention to detail was key here, as the existing cap had a defined character that needed to be replicated precisely for a seamless finish. Using traditional masonry techniques, the replacement piece was worked and refined until it aligned perfectly with the remaining original stone.
Once installed, the repaired section was blended and finished so that it sat naturally within the structure. The aim was not just structural integrity, but also visual continuity—making the repair as unobtrusive as possible.
The result is a fully reinstated granite cap that restores both the function and appearance of the feature, while preserving the character of the original workmanship.
